Reuters' BRUSSELS During a brief conversation on Saturday on the sidelines of Pope Francis' funeral, U.S. President Donald Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen decided to meet later, according to von der Leyen's spokesperson.
Paula Pinho wrote on X, "President von der Leyen and President Trump agreed to meet in their brief exchange." There were no other details available at the time.
Even though the European Commission is in charge of the bloc's trade policy and matters like tariffs, von der Leyen has failed to set up a meeting with the U.S. president since his return to the White House in January, even though Trump has hosted a number of other European leaders.
