US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have been formally received at Windsor Castle as part of their state visit to the United Kingdom.
The couple were greeted by King Charles III, Queen Camilla, and the Prince and Princess of Wales upon arrival by helicopter. They then joined members of the Royal Family for a ceremonial carriage procession through the castle grounds, escorted by the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment.
President Trump travelled with the King in the Irish State Coach, while Queen Camilla and Mrs Trump followed in the Scottish State Coach. The route was lined with members of the armed forces and military bands, with both national anthems performed.
An honour guard awaited in the castle’s quadrangle, where the President and the King jointly inspected the troops.
Following the welcome, the Trumps joined the Royal Family for a private luncheon in the State Dining Room, before viewing a curated display of items from the Royal Collection with links to the United States.
The occasion highlighted the close historic and diplomatic ties between the two nations, marked with traditional ceremony and pageantry.
